I was born in San José, Costa Rica. I worked as Statistician for 30 years in different state institutions. 2003 I retired and a few months later I began to study painting. Soon I found out I loved watercolor. I have made three solo art shows.

I attended a watercolor workshop during 10-14 May in Florence, Italy. The teacher was Alfonso Tejada, architect and watercolorist. We painted in several places of that beautiful city, like the Bardini and Boboli Gardens.

San Rafael de Heredia, Costa Rica, has a priviledged location.  Its white church stands out among the gorgeous foliage.  It is a quiet town with excelent bakeries and nice small groceries stores.

La Castilla

Iglesia La Castilla, Heredia, Costa Rica

Watercolor

52 x 29 cms

2009

This church has been theme of several paintings.   It is called La Castilla.  It is part of our National Wealth.

Nanci Franco Luin

The church of San Miguel de Santo Domingo de Heredia, called La Castilla, is the theme in this painting.

Private Collection

This is my first design.   The painting was inspired in an idea of my friend, Giselle Hidalgo. Aiming to make a watercolor with a white theme on a white background, she suggested me to paint something with doves.
